Lyon, France—what a city! I recently had the chance to visit this beautiful place for a work trip, and despite the rain, it felt like I had walked right into a scene from a movie. The moment I stepped into Lyon’s old town city center, with its cobbled streets and stunning architecture, I was completely captivated. The drizzle only added to the charm, creating that perfect atmospheric vibe you often see in French films.

Lyon’s Culinary Magic
When you think of France, food instantly comes to mind—and Lyon does not disappoint. Known as the culinary capital of the country, the city’s cuisine is nothing short of spectacular. From rich coq au vin to tender quenelles, every meal was a celebration of flavor. But of course, no trip to France would be complete without enjoying red wine—something I truly appreciated as an Albanian-German, where beer is more the go-to drink. In Lyon, the wine culture is deeply rooted, and I couldn’t resist pairing my meals with some exquisite local reds. Whether it was with a hearty dinner or a light lunch, the wine always elevated the experience.

France’s Special Touches
Beyond the food and drink, what makes France so unique? For one, it’s the culture of art de vivre, the art of living well. Every moment in Lyon felt like a nod to this philosophy, from the quiet charm of the old town to the fashionable, modern boutiques in the city center. The historic traboules (hidden passageways) that weave through the old part of the city were a reminder of the rich history and culture that runs deep in Lyon. Whether you’re walking along the riverbank or sitting in a café watching the world go by, there’s a certain je ne sais quoi to it all.
Work & Networking at Global Industry
Of course, this trip wasn’t just about leisure; I was also in Lyon to attend the Global Industry event. As you can see in the picture below, it was a professional setting where I connected with peers and industry leaders. Being able to attend such an event in a city as vibrant as Lyon was both productive and inspiring. It’s always a pleasure to meet like-minded professionals and learn from their experiences.
