🫒Granada: The Hidden Gem of Spain That You Shouldn’t Miss🍉🌞

When you think of Spain, cities like Barcelona, Madrid, or Seville might come to mind first—but if you ask me, Granada is one of the most underrated destinations in the country. I recently had the chance to visit this beautiful Andalusian city, and let me tell you—it absolutely stole my heart.

A City Steeped in Warm Tones and Rich History

The first thing that struck me was the city’s warm, earthy palette. The shades of brown, beige, and terracotta seem to blend naturally into the hilly landscape—something that gives Granada a timeless character. The architecture reflects its deep Moorish heritage, especially as you get closer to the city’s crown jewel: the Alhambra.

I booked a private guided group tour of the Alhambra, and I couldn’t recommend it more. Our guide was amazing—bringing the centuries-old history to life with fascinating stories about the Nasrid dynasty and the intricate beauty of Islamic art. The details carved into the walls, the symmetry of the gardens, and the views over the city were absolutely mesmerizing. If you’re planning to go, bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable shoes—you’ll be doing a lot of walking. I clocked in 28,000 steps that day, and every single one was worth it.

Tapas and Cocktails: A Match Made in Granada

Here’s something else I absolutely love about Granada—every drink comes with a free tapa. Yes, you heard that right. Order a cocktail, and you get food with it. But, of course, if you know me, you know one tapa is never enough, so I usually go for three. 😄 It’s the perfect way to sample the local flavors without committing to a full meal each time. From spicy potatoes to local cheeses and chorizo, the tapas scene here is rich and full of character.

A City Built on Hills and Stories

Granada is very walkable, but don’t underestimate its terrain. It’s a hilly city, so prepare for some solid leg workouts as you make your way through its narrow, winding streets. But honestly, every corner you turn offers something new—a historic fountain, a tucked-away café, or a stunning view over the rooftops.

The Albaicín district, with its whitewashed houses and cobblestone alleys, is another must-see. Walk up to Mirador de San Nicolás for the iconic panoramic view of the Alhambra with the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background—especially magical at sunset.

Why Granada Deserves More Hype

Granada might not always be at the top of every tourist’s list, but in my opinion, it absolutely should be. It’s a city that blends history, culture, architecture, food, and natural beauty in a way that feels both authentic and unforgettable. From its royal palaces to its street-side tapas, it’s the kind of place that leaves you wanting more.

If you’re planning a trip to Spain soon, do yourself a favor and add Granada to your itinerary. Just don’t forget your walking shoes—and your appetite.
