🇪🇸Palma de Mallorca: The Island That Made Me Fall in Love With Summer Again🌴☀️

Written by:

I’ve traveled to Spain more times than I can count — seriously, from the north to the south, east to west, and every little corner in between. But there’s just something about Palma de Mallorca that left a deeper mark. I visited in August 2023, and I can still feel the warmth of that island sun on my skin like it was yesterday.

It started in the air — literally. Every time I fly to an island, we hit turbulence right before landing, and this time was no exception. It was intense, and I won’t lie, I was scared. But as soon as we landed and I stepped outside, it was like the fear disappeared. Palma welcomed me with palm trees, hot air, blue skies, and that beautiful island energy that says: You’re here now. Relax.

☀️ City Vibes & Palm Trees

Palma is vibrant — not just beautiful in that picture-perfect postcard way, but alive. The city center was one of my favorite parts. It has this buzz that makes you want to walk slower and soak everything in. The streets are full of history, the architecture is dreamy, and there’s this Mediterranean energy that makes you feel inspired and completely in the moment.

There were palm trees everywhere, and for someone like me who’s slightly obsessed with them — it felt perfect. They lined the boulevards, popped up near cafes, and stood tall near the port. Honestly, every corner was photo-worthy.

🏖️ Beach Days & Bus Rides

Even though it was packed with tourists (it was August, after all), it didn’t bother me. The beaches were stunning — warm, salty air, and people swimming, laughing, and just enjoying summer. I went to several beaches, and the thing is, I didn’t even rent a car. I took the bus. Yes — the bus! I loved it. It was calm, and in some parts, almost empty. Or I’d hop on a bike and ride along the water. Honestly, it’s such a laid-back way to see the island.

Each beach felt slightly different. Some with golden sand, some with rocky edges and deep blue water that sparkled in the sun. There’s nothing like diving into the Mediterranean when the sun is high, and you’re surrounded by happy strangers.

🍽️ A Breakfast to Remember

I’ve stayed in so many hotels across Spain, but the hotel in Palma had something unforgettable: the breakfast. I don’t even remember the name (I need to check that again), but I swear — it was like a wedding feast. Not just eggs and toast — but everything. Spanish pastries, fruit, tortillas, cheese, little cakes… I ate so much, I couldn’t even move afterward. But it was that kind of grateful full, you know?

Spanish breakfasts are simple but flavorful: pan con tomate, tortilla de patatas, fresh fruit, and often jamón or cheese, plus good coffee. But this breakfast — this was on another level.

🌊 To the Port & Beyond

One afternoon, I wandered down to the Port of Palma — a perfect place for a slow stroll. Boats gently swaying in the water, the sun reflecting off the sea, and the breeze cooling down the heat just a bit. It’s the kind of place where time doesn’t matter. Where just being there is enough.

💛 Final Thoughts

There’s something about Palma de Mallorca that feels balanced. It’s lively, but peaceful. Elegant, but real. And no matter how many places in Spain I’ve been, this one stays with me. Maybe it was the palm trees, the city vibe, the beach, or that endless breakfast table. Maybe it was all of it.

All I know is that Palma made me fall in love with summer again.
