A retired Canadian couple who enjoy independent travel. We both retired in 2003 having both worked in banking for numerous years. During our work life our holidays consisted of road trips and tent camping in the early years. In the later years, trips to Europe were the norm.
Since retirement we have travelled to numerous countries discovering new places, different cultures and wonderful people.
In 2004 we went to Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Bali and Thailand.
2005 we went back to Asia visiting Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
Destinations in 2006 were Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. We also went to France in September for a month. This trip included a one week boat trip on the Garonne river, which we did on our own.
Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands and Peru in 2007.
A family trip to Ireland for a month in 2009, with my eldest brother and two sister-in-law’s.
Chile and Argentina in 2009/2010. This trip included a 5 day hike in Patagonia, the highlight of this 2 month trip.
Another family trip to France in 2011. My two brother’s and their wives and another sister in law.
A trip to India for 3 weeks in 2012 with my husband’s sister and brother in law. We continued on to Nepal for an additional 2 weeks.
In 2013 we spent a month in Nice and a month in Mazamet, both in France, then a one week self guided bike trip in Holland with our sister in law and niece.
2014 took us back to France. Another month in Nice and surrounding area, and a month in Bordeaux. We were joined by Robin’s brother, sister in law, his sister and brother in law for a few days in Bordeaux. A 5 day bike trip in the area. We then spent 7 days in Morocco on a guided tour on our own. Not the norm for us to go on a guided tour, but decided it was a safer option for Morocco.
A trip to Italy in 2015. A week in Rome, where we were joined by Robin’s sister and brother in law for a few days. Then we proceeded to Venice for four days, a week in the lake district of Italy, a few days in Slovenia and finally ten days in Croatia.
In the fall of 2016 we spent 16 days in Europe,visiting Amsterdam, Utecht,Maastricht, Strasbourg, Colmar, the Jungfrau area, Lucerne and finally Bruges. A quick trip but still very enjoyable.
In February 2017 we spent a couple of weeks in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Previous winters over the years have been spent in Arizona and Palm Desert, anywhere from 1 to 3 months. Logan family reunions have been held in the Muskokas (Ontario), Portugal, Lake Placid, Niagara Falls, Wisconsin Dells and Asheville. I usually don’t blog when away for just a couple of weeks.
Spring of 2017 saw us visiting Vienna, a side trip to Budapest then back to Austria spending a few days in Krems An Der Donau and Bad Ischl. Then off to France where we spent a week in Rennes and North East Brittany and an additional week in Quimper and South West Brittany. Then off to the Loire Valley where we spent a week in Amboise where we were joined by Robin’s sister, brother in law and their son for a few days then off to the Tours area with our son and daughter and law for a week. Spent our final four days in Paris, always more to explore there.
In June 2018 we spent the month in Spain, mainly in the province of Andalusia and ventured to Merida and Evora, Portugal.
Spent two weeks in Jamaica in December of 2018 with our daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters.
Spent the month of February 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal taking in many side trips and a final four days on the island of Madeira.
In June of 2019, we joined a friend and visited Turkey and Greece and in September spent 3 weeks in Germany and Austria with my brother and sister in law.
In February 2020, we spent three weeks in Porto, Portugal. On our way back to Calgary we were starting to hear of a virus that was happening in China. Little did we know that our travel plans for the next couple of years would disappear!
As travel started to open up again in 2022, we ventured out to Quebec for 10 days in February where we met our daughter and her family. We also spent a week at an all inclusive in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. The month of June saw us heading to France to do a 5 day ebike trip and then spend some time in Lyon. We also spent two weeks at the end of September in Barcelona, Spain.
I used to keep written diaries of our trips until I started a blog in 2006, links on this blog website.
We look forward to more travels and adventures as long as our health permits. We are so thankful for all the experiences we have had to date, and look forward to many more.
